Regenerative Medicine

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine is an innovative field focused on supporting and stimulating the body’s ability to repair, replace, or regenerate damaged tissues and organs. This cutting-edge approach aims to harness the body’s natural healing processes to restore function and improve the quality of life. At Missoula Osteopathic Clinic, we integrate these advancements into our holistic treatment plans, emphasizing the body’s ability to heal itself.

The Osteopathic Perspective

Osteopathy emphasizes a whole-person approach to healthcare, recognizing the interconnections between the body’s systems. By combining traditional Osteopathic practices with Regenerative Medicine, we enhance our ability to treat a wide range of conditions, particularly those related to musculoskeletal issues, chronic pain, and degenerative diseases.

Photobiomodulation Therapy

Photobiomodulation Therapy (light therapy) is a therapeutic technique that uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate tissues, stimulating cellular processes. This non-thermal light energy is absorbed by cells, leading to a range of biological responses that can accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain, without damage. It is non-invasive treatment that supports the body’s regenerative capacity, encouraging optimal tissue function. Platelet-Rich Fibrin/Plasma (PRF/PRP) Injections

Platelet-Rich Fibrin/Plasma (PRF/PRP) Injections are a state of the art regenerative injection technique that uses a patient’s own blood to promote healing. PRF/PRP is derived from a small blood sample, which is processed to concentrate the platelets—cells responsible for healing and tissue regeneration. This concentrated PRF/PRP is then injected into damaged or degenerated joints and surrounding supportive structures to promote healing in joints, muscles, and other soft tissues. This results in reduced pain, improved function, restored joint health, and enhanced mobility.

Free Radicals Definition

Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage any tissue in the body they come in contact with.

This causes a cascade of tissue damage and inflammation. Inflammation itself generates even more free radicals.

Anti-oxidants such as glutathione, vitamin C, D, E and K, as well as many others, stabilize the free radicals and therefore stop the tissue damage, the cascade of damage and the resulting inflammation.
